I call this section ‘The Smoker’ because my theory on Highlander and 2001: A Space Odyssey didn’t come from a writer’s room. It hit me while I was taking a Pork Butt out of the smoker. I wasn’t trying to fix a 40-year-old sci-fi plot hole; I was just trying to keep the meat from drying out. But in that moment of distraction, two wires crossed, and a new ‘canon’ was created.
